Healthy Home Solutions at Ricco Patterson Electric

While Congress dithers over the immigration act, the success of Ricco Patterson Electric in Ashland is a classic American Dream immigration story.
Co-owner Ricco Patterson was born in a small village outside Bogota, Colombia, and after being orphaned, was fortunate to be adopted to the U.S., becoming a U.S. citizen at the age of seven. He grew up in Olympia, Washington, and on the Rogue River in Galice, where his adoptive family owned and operated a river expedition company.

Wholistic Healing at Mederi Centre

When it comes to healing, Donald "Donnie" Yance, the Founder and Lead Practitioner at Ashland's Mederi Centre for Natural Healing, prefers a wholistic approach. A tireless researcher and a compassionate practitioner, Donnie doesn't believe in a "one-size-fits-all" approach to healing.
"Everyone is unique and thus, every illness is unique," says Yance. "Using our Eclectic Triphasic™ Medical System (ETMS), we create personalized treatment plans focused on a whole-systems approach to patient care. As a therapeutic and diagnostic lens, the ETMS aids in the successful selection of the most appropriate, effective medicines, many of which are botanically based products that we have formulated."

Great Cuisine at House of Thai

I've always had a soft place in my heart for House of Thai Cuisine, located at 1667 Siskiyou Boulevard. The restaurant opened in February 1989, and four months later (June 1989) my wife and I took the whole extended family there for dinner after our wedding.
Owners Piengchit and Phil Crompton love to hear romantic stories like that. The two met in 1995 when Phil was getting his car washed at Siskiyou and Harmony Lane and he noticed a woman at the house next door working in the yard.

Peace and Tranquility at Rose Yoga

Like many people, Janet Langley found Iyengar Yoga because of a sports injury. And just like many others, she was so inspired by the different approach to yoga that allowed her, even with a temporary injury, to excel that she stuck with it.
Janet was living in Santa Barbara at the time. Her family began migrating to Ashland in the 1980s, and she loved it, hoping to relocate.

Animal Medical Hospital Turns 55

At Animal Medical Hospital (1525 Hwy 99 N), they're celebrating their 55th year in business. Dr. Leo Van Dijk opened the hospital in 1958 in downtown Ashland and moved to its present location on Highway 99 in 1966.
When Leo retired in 1988, he sold the business to Scott Knox, D.V.M. Joining the staff in 1992 was Dr. LeAnn Ahlbrecht, while Dr. Tiffany Graeber came to the practice in 2001. In 2002 they opened a brand new facility in the same location.
"I grew up just north of Eugene in a small farming community with a close family friend who was the James Herriot of the Valley, caring for all types of creatures day and night," Scott said. "Due to his influence and my love of animals, I ultimately graduated from C.S.U. Veterinary Medical School in Fort Collins, Colorado, in 1985."
