Holistic Brain and Body Care with Dr. Dane
“I see life as a journey full of mystery, surprises, challenges and new discoveries. Old hurts from the past have been my teachers; they help me continue to grow and learn how to love. My best advice from seven decades of life-learning: Be Kind to Yourself!”
Those words define the philosophy and practice of Dane Roubos, DC, of Holistic Brain and Body Care, located at 233 4th Street in the Arura Building.
“Doctor Dane,” as he calls himself, moved to Ashland from the Midwest in 2005 and started Holistic Brain and Body Care in 2009. A 1982 graduate of Logan Chiropractic College in St. Louis, he worked as a chiropractor and natural physician, and taught chiropractic medicine at Northwestern Health Sciences University in Minneapolis.
Dr. Dane has been a Spiritual Care Volunteer at the Asante Ashland Community Hospital for the last three years, where he has supported the spiritual needs of interested patients, and has developed an interfaith process to help people receive personalized spiritual support for their challenges.
“Being a natural physician and a teacher has always felt like a calling,” he says. “My practice began with a physical focus, and evolved into being more holistic. I’ve always loved supporting my clients in their healing process and sharing what I’ve learned through my own life experience.”
That experience has led Dr. Dane to adopt a variety of healing methods in his practice. He uses intuitive “hands-on” therapies for clients with chronic or recurring pain. For those experiencing brain or mood challenges, he employs a method known as IASIS Microcurrent Neurofeedback. And he will soon introduce Self-Care Wisdom lifestyle coaching programs to help reduce the risk of degenerative diseases like dementia, diabetes, heart disease, cancer, and stroke.
“Self-Care Wisdom helps clients align their diets and lifestyles with healing principles to prevent or delay the common diseases of aging,” he says. “The work is based on global research identifying the main factors that consistently result in vital, engaged elders who are relatively free from chronic degenerative disease.”
Adopting healthier living principles, he says, not only transforms an individual’s life but has a positive impact on an entire community.
“I would love to see our Ashland community embrace the healthy lifestyle practices that have made degenerative disease a rarity in other communities around the world—the Blue Zones,” he said.
