It’s always fun to check out new restaurants, and here in Grants Pass Taroko Asian Tapas Bar (414 NW 6th Street) is the newest. Owners Christie Chiang and Nyoman Tunas both have extensive backgrounds in the restaurant industry. Nyoman, who has lived in the Rogue Valley since 2000, has worked in the business for over 20 years.

After many years helping her husband with his trucking business, Sue Bowker, owner of Mail Call at 233 Rogue River Highway, felt she needed a change of pace.

“We visited Grants Pass in the summer of 1977 and loved it so much we moved here,” Sue said. “There wasn’t a lot of work, but my husband always drove a truck, so we started Action Transfer in the early 1990s.

Downtown Grants Pass seems to be alive with a lot of new, unique stores, and Ann & Shan’s Bark Avenue/Gallop ‘n Glitz (224 SW 6th Street) is a perfect example. Ann Jackson and Shannon Holder got to know each other while sharing a storefront on 6th Street a few blocks down from their current location.
