My Daughter’s Closet

MyDaughtersClosetMedford native Tami Abeloe has seen many consignment stores come and go during the past three years since opening her own upper end consignment store— My Daughter’s Closet—in May of 2009. “I think the misconception is that this is an easy business to be in,” Tami explains. “Let me assure you, it takes a lot of work and business sense. Slow and steady wins the race. Our customer service really sets us apart. We love our customers and consignors – we consider them our friends!”
My Daughter’s Closet, located at 237 E. Main Street in downtown Medford, offers brand name clothing, shoes, and accessories at reasonable prices    for women and teens. In December of 2011 they added to their space by taking on a vacancy at the back of the store, which is now home to their junior selections.
Tami originally opened the store just around the corner in a small space behind Lawrence’s Jeweler’s (the former Bartlett Street Bookstore). After about a year in business, she heard from other downtown merchants that a space on the corner of Main and Bartlett (formerly housed by Molly Reed), was going to be vacant.
“The merchants were rallying for me to get the space,” Tami said. “I signed the lease in June, 2010. At that time I formed a partnership with Susan Fichtner, with whom I worked with previously on the Board for the Children’s Advocacy center and have been friends with for approximately 20 years. We set about to remodel the space in record time and moved over the 4th of July weekend, 2010.”
Tami and Susan love operating a business in downtown Medford, and are both excited to be a part of the revitalization efforts. “The energy from the downtown merchants, students, workers and customers energizes us,” Tami said.
With great customer service and a friendly staff, they are always willing to help coordinate an outfit or offer help with finding that perfect accessory, or that one of a kind piece that can’t be found elsewhere.
“We have some of the best consignors in the valley and they have made us the success we are today,” Susan said.
“Our clean and inviting store is a great way to recycle those barely used items that may be sitting in the closet.”
