Taroko Asian Tapas Bar Opens in Grants Pass
It’s always fun to check out new restaurants, and here in Grants Pass Taroko Asian Tapas Bar (414 NW 6th Street) is the newest. Owners Christie Chiang and Nyoman Tunas both have extensive backgrounds in the restaurant industry. Nyoman, who has lived in the Rogue Valley since 2000, has worked in the business for over 20 years.
“My first job ever was in a restaurant, and I have always wanted to open my own,” Nyoman said.
Christie was introduced to the Rogue Valley in the summer of 1997 and liked it so much she decided to move here in 2011. Her mother has owned restaurants for over 20 years, so Christie grew up working for her while putting herself through college.
Nyoman is from Indonesia, while Christie is from Taiwan, giving both of them a deep appreciation for Asian cuisine. It is their love for healthy, delicious Asian food motivates them.
“We are a restaurant/bar serving delicious, fresh Asian tapas,” Christie said. “We also have a ton of vegetarian and gluten-free options. Our menu will change quarterly to include seasonal items.”
Nyoman agreed. “All of our dishes are made from scratch,” he said. “We also have a great selection of wines, beers, and sake, and a full bar. Most of our sakes are served by the carafe, so folks can try different ones without having to commit to a large bottle.”
Taroko Asian Tapas Bar is open seven days a week from noon to midnight. They offer lunch specials seven days a week, and Happy Hour Monday through Friday from 4-6pm and after 10pm.
“We serve our full menu the entire time we are open,” Christie said. “So if you are looking for a place with delicious food late night, Taroko is it.”
