The Hairport Celebrates 20 Years in Grants Pass

December 2017

Aplands Auto BodyGinger Skudsad, owner of The Hairport Styling Salon (424 NW 6th Street, Suite 108), is celebrating a couple of milestones this year. It was forty years ago in 1977 that she moved to Grants Pass from L.A., and it was twenty years ago that she opened her own styling salon.

“I have a background in wedding fashion and design, including personal makeovers,” said Ginger, who was born in New York and raised in Los Angeles. “Combined with my forays into oil-painting, where I honed my artistic gifts and talents, I thought it was a natural progression to go into the field of hair design, color, and cutting.”

Ginger has never stopped learning her craft and has traveled extensively throughout the West Coast cities of Portland, Seattle and San Francisco, where she has completed classes in color, corrective color, blonding, balayage techniques (which creates natural-looking highlights that grow out without developing a noticeable and obvious root), perming and the artistry of advanced hair cutting and styling.

“The Hairport Salon Studio is by appointment only and offers one-on-one attention,” Ginger said. “There is a complimentary consultation, and there is always time available to discuss cuts, styles and ideas. And it’s always in a quiet and private atmosphere.”

The salon offers high quality professional hair products like Eugene Perma, a European color line from France, plus Lanza hair products of color, shampoos and conditioners.

“We are dedicated to the highest attention to detail in both our styling and our products,” Ginger said.
