Land of Paws is a bright, clean, grooming facility where the ultimate goal is to help keep your pet not only well groomed, but healthy and happy. They have been keeping Ashland’s dogs and cats beautiful for 20 years.
Owners Deidre (Didi) and Andrew Thomson bought the business in 2006, when they moved here from Colorado after falling in love with Ashland. Didi brought more than three decades of pet grooming experience with her to Land of Paws.
Her approach reflects her deep love of animals and experience with and understanding of their individual health issues, quirks and preferences.
“We work with each pet and each pet owner to make sure the grooming experience is as stress-free and pleasant as possible,” Didi says.
One of Land of Paws’ newest and most noteworthy services includes a special grooming treatment designed for pets that have skin allergies and sensitivities.
“We strive to be the best and are constantly looking for new technology,” Didi said. “One piece of new technology is a revolutionary new grooming method called the Thera-Clean Microbubble machine, which is especially useful for pets that have skin allergies.”
The Thera-Clean method cleans pets using microscopic bubbles of water. “It cleans the pet thoroughly without the use of soap, which can irritate sensitive skin,” she says.
The microbubbles become charged to thoroughly attract dirt, oil and debris and remove it. The method also uses a natural, plant-based enzyme powder that softens and helps dislodge debris, allowing the microbubbles to adhere to and remove waste.
Didi and Andrew’s love for animals and for giving back to the community is further reflected in their volunteer work with Friends of the Animal Shelter (FOTAS), where they donate grooming services to make animals more adoptable.
Groomings at Land of Paws are available by appointment and can sometimes be arranged the same day, but certainly within a week of your call.
Land of Paws is open Tuesday through Friday from 8am “until all pets are perfect,” and from 9am on Saturdays. They also offer free pickup and delivery.
