Harvey’s: The “Place” to Be Downtown

October 2016

Harveys RestaurantIf you’re visiting Ashland and looking for an inviting spot to have dinner, or if you live here and want to make a weeknight special, step into Harvey’s Place at 50 East Main Street.

Harvey’s Place offers a menu of delicious items, great bar, and a warm, friendly environment where you can relax and enjoy the company of friends and family. “We strive to create an excellent experience for the folks who step through our door,” says owner Rob Harvey. “We listen to our guests and work to exceed their expectations.”

Rob and Anny Harvey know something about the restaurant business. Rob began working in Ashland restaurants in 1992, his senior year of high school, to fund his college education.

“After completing my studies at Oregon State University, I made the restaurant business my profession,” he says. “In 1997, I bought and began managing Beasy’s on the Creek.”

Anny came from a family with a multi-generational passion for food. Her grandfather spent 36 years as a chef in New York City, so the restaurant business is “in her blood.” She worked for a catering company in high school before starting as a hostess at Beasy’s in April of 2000.

Both Rob and Anny are nearly lifelong residents of the Rogue Valley. Rob grew up in Ashland and Anny in Medford. The couple opened Harvey’s Place in May 2014. The two love the challenges of operating their restaurants, despite what Rob calls a “sometimes unpredictable profession.”

“The face of restaurant ownership has changed significantly over the years, but the success of pleasing guests and our crew never loses its reward,” Rob says. “It continues to drive us to create a more efficient working environment and a better guest experience.”

Balancing their working life with family is a challenge, and Rob and Anny credit their restaurant staff with making it possible.

“We just had our third baby at the end of August,” Anny said. “Never could it be possible to manage the two shops and three young kids without the love and support of our restaurant families. They are each and every one appreciated and loved for that.”

Their focus on family shows in the environment they’ve created at Harvey’s Place, says Rob. They are delighted that their work allows them to be part of people’s special celebrations, from family reunions to graduation parties and anniversaries.

“There are many quality restaurants in our town and we are grateful for the success that our community has afforded us.”
