In August 2018, the newest cannabis shop to open in Ashland was Kaleafa Cannabis Company (1253 Siskiyou, next to Case Coffee), but its roots go back a lot further than that. The company began as a small storefront in the Woodstock neighborhood of Portland and was one of the pioneers in the medical marijuana movement in that city. Since then, they have grown to be one of Oregon’s top dispensaries, with five locations and more on the way across Oregon and beyond.
Owners John and Julie Widmer have a combined 30 years in sales. “Having grown up around the product, we understand the potential for the cannabis plants’ medicinal value,” John said. “Cannabis has been a part of my family’s culture for a number of years, and we actually tailored our shops to sell to the customer base we grew up with. We concentrate totally on quality, service, and price points.”
Julie agreed. “At Kaleafa, we believe that cannabis is for everyone,” she said. “That’s why all of our stores provide a wide variety of products at competitive pricing, in a comfortable, educational environment. We ensure that no matter which location you visit, you’ll find the right selection of products at the best price possible. Our budtenders are committed to providing every customer who walks through the door with the time, attention, and information to get them the cannabis products that are right for them.”
Kaleafa is a recreational cannabis company featuring the largest selection of flowers, edibles, concentrates, and a wide array of CBD products. One can expect a professional atmosphere where the staff treats customers like family.
“It’s our goal to match the best selection of products with the best prices so that there is always something to meet every customer’s needs,” Julie said. “We will pre-roll any of our flowers for customer convenience. We also provide education and product information sessions represented by leading cannabis farms and businesses. We really want to become part of the Ashland community by supporting locals with products and cultural needs.”
As the industry has changed since legalization, the Widmers recognized the importance of staying on top of the changes. “For us, it’s more than just a sales experience in a recreation store,” John said. “While it’s our goal to offer a great selection and prices, it’s our bigger motivation to represent to the community the social consciousness we are committed to in helping community causes. Throughout the year our Ashland Kaleafa family of customers and volunteers will select and support community projects. We know success will come by doing the little things.”
