Where has time gone? It just seems like yesterday that the Wild Goose opened at 2365 Ashland Street. Now here they are celebrating their 23rd year in Ashland. Both Dal and Renee Carver spent their formative years in Ashland, then moved away in the 80s before deciding to return in 1998 to open the Goose.

It was the spring of 2014 when Gus Janeway, a winemaker at RoxyAnn Winery, decided to switch gears and open a new kind of bicycle shop, Piccadilly Cycles (525 A Street) in Ashland with his good friend Blaine Pickett.

It’s been a long and winding road for Jeven Showers, owner of Taqueria Picaro at 76 N. Pioneer Street in downtown Ashland, as he got his start in the food industry fairly early.
“I started my journey into the restaurant business in my mom’s kitchen growing up,” he said. “She is a great cook (love you, Mom!). I got a job as a dishwasher in Mt. Shasta back in the 90s and never looked back.
