The Ashland Family Massage Education Center

According to health research, massage is the oldest component of movement in health care that adequately changes the body to help it be the best it can be. One local Massage Therapist who follows this latest research is JoAnn Lewis, owner of Family Massage Education Center, located at 1081 E. Main in Ashland.
JoAnn has been a Licensed Massage Therapist (LMT) for nearly 20 years and has been teaching public classes for home health for over fifteen. In 2006 she returned after a year-plus in Belgium and England to finish her Trainer's certification to train instructors of Infant Massage with IAIM International. She opened FMEC on February 1, 2011.

Healing Alternatives at Inner Synergy

When it comes to yoga, Keira Harrison of Inner Synergy (545 Lit Way), has had a lifetime of experience.
"From the moment I could walk, I was practicing yoga with my mom," Keira said. "When I was eight, I became seriously dedicated and worked my way through a yoga encyclopedia for children. I took my first classes when I was in high school, continued in college, and really deepened my home practice when I was in my early 20s and becoming a new mom."
In the fall of 2004, Keira returned to classes with Hanneli Francis and fell in love with the Anusara style of yoga.

Southern Oregon’s Gateway to International Collectors Market

Mark and Andrea Hutto are owners of J. Austin Coin & Jewelry (1642 Ashland St. in the Ashland Shopping Center). Mark's father was a owner of shop dealing with coins and bullion in Texas back in the 1980s, giving Mark early exposure to the world of coins. His grandfather on his mother's side was J. Austin, after whom the company is named. When Mark was twelve, his Grandpa Jack told him he "would one day be in this type of business," and because of his drive and ability to communicate "he would do well." Grandpa Jack was right.
"I was a college exchange student in Hungary when Andrea and I met in 1996," Mark said. "We were married the following year."

Sixty Years and Counting at Davis, Hearn, Anderson & Turner

The law office of Davis, Hearn, Anderson & Turner, PC, recently celebrated sixty years in Ashland this year. The five partners—Jack Davis, Chris Hearn, Eugene Anderson and Gary Turner—along with associate attorney Jeff McCollum, have a combined 155 years of experience in the legal profession. Each one is motivated to practice law for different reasons, but all enjoy serving the legal needs of their clients.
It was in 1976 that Jack Davis joined his father Sam Davis (and partner Sid Ainsworth) in the law firm. Sam opened the office in 1953 after moving here from Minneapolis, Minnesota. The office was just down the walk from the Oregon Shakespeare Festival off Main Street when Ashland was a small mill town.

Prestigious Retinal Eye Center & Macular Research Institute in Ashland

When Dr. William S. Rodden opened the Retina & Vitreous Center of Southern Oregon in Ashland (246 Catalina Drive) in 1992, it was the first retinal practice in the entire region. "Prior to that, patients traveled to Portland or San Francisco to see a retina specialist," Dr. Rodden said.
Dr. Rodden developed the vitreoretinal service for the operating theater at Ashland Community Hospital, which, to this day, is the only surgery center used by the retina surgeons in southern Oregon. In 2002 he opened a fully functioning satellite office in Grants Pass (1019 NE 7th) to alleviate the travel burden on patients living further to the north.
