Every year for Christmas, I peruse the two full-page ads in the Sneak Preview for Bloomsbury Books (290 E. Main Street) and mark off three or four books that I want. It takes the pressure off my family having to pick out ugly ties and sweaters, and it keeps me busy for months with my head in the books.

The restaurant spot at 31 Water Street has been an Ashland favorite for years, and when Sean Marc Nipper and Julia Rowland heard it was available in May 2021, they jumped at the opportunity. And thus Local 31 Pub was born.
