Ashland Natural Medicine: Cutting-Edge Practice Meets Ancient Wisdom
Cutting-edge diagnostics combined with ancient healing techniques. Doctors who take the time to listen to and talk with their patients. A calm, soothing environment. Sound like your idea of the perfect medical visit?
It was certainly the idea that led Dr. Chris Chlebowski to open Ashland Natural Medicine in 2012. Dr. Chris is a homeopath, chiropractor and naturopath who studied in the leading schools of natural medicine. He is joined in his practice by Dr. Ajana Miki, also a naturopathic physician and acupuncturist, with more than 20 years experience, who specializes in women’s health.
Dr. Chris moved to Ashland from Portland almost six years ago “to be in a small community and raise our kids” with his wife, Samae, who went to college here and fell in love with the area. Dr. Miki has been in Southern Oregon for 13 years.
Chris became int-erested in the healing arts as a young man. While attending chiropractic school, he became interested in homeopathy and unique healing modalities. He took a second doctorate, in Naturopathy, “to have as many tools as possible to treat disease,” he says. His practice focuses on pediatrics and on treating complex, difficult cases in adults, including Lyme disease, cardiovascular disease, cancer, autoimmune diseases and gastrointestinal complaints.
Dr. Miki knew she wanted to be a doctor from the time she was three, but it wasn’t until a herb conference at 18 that she realized what type of doctor she wanted to become. She went on to study both Chinese medicine and Naturopoathy and she uses those tools to dive deeply into patients‘ health stories. She has trained extensively with physicians, herbalists and Chinese medicine practitioners and has studied with indigenous Shamanic practitioners and healers from many different cultures. She offers Holistic Pelvic Care™, gynecological exams, hormonal assessment and treatments, fertility protocols and healthy pregnancy support.
The two doctors share the belief that providing good health care requires taking enough time to listen to and talk with patients, and having the freedom to choose appropriate, individualized treatment. They offer classical homeopathy, acupuncture, women’s health exams, hyperbaric oxygen, massage therapy, dietary advice, laboratory testing, genetic analysis, EAV testing, network chiropractic, IV therapy (including chelation), herbal medicine and pediatric care.
Ashland Natural Medicine does not contract with insurance companies. “Five years ago we decided that walking away from an insurance model made the most sense for our patients,” says Dr. Chris. “We feel that insurance companies have no place deciding what procedures or therapies should be available to a patient; that should be decided by the patient and their physician. Patients who have insurance can receive “super bills” that they submit to their insurance company for reimbursement. “This allows us to do exactly what a client requires and not what an insurance company says to do,” he said.
