For Clothing That’s Better the Second Time Around
“Deja Vu,” the French term meaning “already seen,” is the remarkable sensation of being in a completely new situation, yet feeling like you’ve been there before. Even if you’ve never actually experienced deja vu, a trip to the fabulous Ashland store that bears the name is an equally delightful experience.
Deja Vu Fashion Consignment Shoppe is Southern Oregon’s premier women’s and men’s consignment clothing store, where you’ll find previously owned, gently worn and loved items in all sizes, including juniors, women’s, plus sizes, maternity, and men’s sizes up to 6X. In addition to clothing, Deja Vu carries jewelry, shoes, handbags, and other accessories.
The 4500-square-foot store boasts a constantly changing inventory; owner Chris Taylor says she sees up to 2000 new items each day. And to make the experience even better, the shop is located in the Ashland Shopping Center with plenty of convenient parking.
Chris moved to Ashland in 1998 and opened Deja Vu in 1999. Her husband, John Taylor, is co-owner. John is a music director as well as a real estate broker with Windermere Van Vleet Real Estate; Chris had worked as a real estate agent in Washington State, and recently resumed a role in the business with John.
Customer service is a Number One priority for Chris at Deja Vu. “My philosophy is to make it easy to do business,” Chris says. “You never need an appointment to bring in your consignments. Consignors receive cash or store credit for their consignments, and it’s the same percentage, whether cash or in-store credit. Additionally, when you become a Deja Vu consignor, you’ll receive a 10 percent consignor discount card that is good for unlimited discounts in the store for 60 days.”
Her approach has helped build what Chris terms “a huge customer clientele” and has earned Deja Vu the title, “Best Shop in Ashland (Outside of Downtown)” 20 years in a row in the Sneak Preview’s annual “Best of Ashland.”
The store boasts more than 20,000 consignors, and many more customers who simply shop there. “Everyone is welcome at Deja Vu, whether or not they bring in consigned items,” says Chris. “I invite everyone to come discover why Deja Vu is a customer and consignor favorite.”
