Home and Garden Décor at “Revive”
July 2016
The “use what you have” approach to decorating homes and offices is enjoying a resurgence thanks to consumers who are thoughtful about the impact of what they buy on the environment, and on their wallets.
Revive, a furniture and home decor shop at 264 4th Street in the Railroad District (across from Peerless), has been encouraging this approach for nearly five years. The store features a constantly changing, eclectic collection of beautiful, mostly recycled items for home and garden.
“The shop is a mixture of new and used,” says owner Stacy Shelley. “I am fortunate to have clients in the Valley who bring me beautiful items to find new homes for. I fill the space with things I find interesting, well made and of good quality.”
Stacy moved with her family to Ashland from Seattle in 2002 “in search of a lifestyle where I could slow down.” She had enjoyed a variety of successful corporate jobs but was searching for more soul-satisfying work.
“I spent my formative years shopping flea markets around the world and have always loved hunting for unique and unusual items,” Stacy said. “I have an eye for finding and putting together unique things in unique ways, whether it’s clothes, furniture or decorative items. I was ready to pursue my creative side and see where it would take me. I have since learned that when you pursue your passion and focus on what you love, you thrive!”
In addition to recycled items, Revive also carries several lines of new products. Fermob is a French manufacturer that creates beautiful raw steel and aluminum outdoor furniture and accessories in 23 colors. “Their products are beautifully designed and comfortable as well as recycled and recyclable,” says Stacy.
Tropical Salvage is a Portland-based company that uses reclaimed, old quality hardwood and tree roots to create furniture that is functional, durable and beautiful.
The store carries a rotating selection of Ashland-based Beth Dolos’ industrial rustic furniture made from recycled steel, car hoods and reclaimed woods; Steve Gee’s concrete and reclaimed woods balance tables and consoles; and Westling Design custom linoleum rugs from Seattle.
Stacy loves to work with customers to suggest ideas for their homes and outdoor spaces, and has a special flair for helping pull spaces together.
Because her “finds” are in high demand, she is always on the lookout for high-quality consignment items. “Anyone interested in consigning their pieces should either email me or stop in with pictures,” she said. “Room is always limited, but I’m good at squeezing in great stuff when it comes through.”
