Northwest Raw: Healthy, Quick and Delicious

Northwest Raw2Web Staunton learned first-hand the power of healthful eating, and his Northwest Raw Organic Juice Bar at 370 East Main Street is a testament to that lesson.

Diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis in 2002, Web struggled through ten years of taking expensive medications and seeing no improvement in his health. He remembers the day that turned his life around.

“On December 27, 2012, I watched the documentary Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead,” he recalls. “My daughter Hannah, who was concerned about my health, had told me about it. I was inspired, and the very next day decided to start juicing. For the next 17 days I drank only fresh juice and immediately felt better.”

He began a near-totally raw diet and drank fresh juice every day. During a visit to his daughter in Virginia, he discovered cold press juices at a local juice bar. The idea for Northwest Raw was born.

“I was instantly inspired by a restaurant and juice bar that would be focused on providing the best and safest food available,” he said. “When my wife, Karen, and I returned from Virginia, we began to look for a space and investment capital to fulfill this dream.”
They opened Northwest Raw on February 1, 2014.

NW Raw Organic Juice Bar offers 100% organic, raw, cold pressed juices. The cold pressing process extracts and retains the greatest nutritional value and flavor from fruits and vegetables. They also serve delicious smoothies, salads, soups, desserts and espresso, all made with fresh, local ingredients.

In many ways, Northwest Raw brought Web back full circle. After he and Karen moved to the Rogue Valley in 1986, he started the Valley’s first 24-track recording studio and operated it for eight years. He built a recording studio for The Applegate Christian Fellowship and eventually went on to become a pastor and administrator there.

In 2011, he began to think about next steps. The improvements he made in his health in the next year became the impetus for starting Northwest Raw. “As a boy, I helped my dad on a farm that had been in my family for three generations,” he says, “so in many ways, I’ve returned to my roots.”

Karen especially loves the restful, inviting environment that Northwest Raw provides. “In today’s fast food world, it’s nice to offer people quick but healthy and delicious options that they can enjoy in a beautiful and comfortable space,” she said.
