OSTEOSTRONG BUILDS BONE MASS NATURALLY

December 2023

Osteo Strong AshlandHere’s a sobering fun fact I read on Wikipedia: “Bone loss starts after peak bone mass is reached around age 30. After age 30, bone breakdown outpaces bone formation and bone loss often accelerates.” Well, no wonder I’m no longer able to hit 275-yard drives on the golf course … my bones ain’t cooperating.

Patty and Kim Snow, co-owners of OsteoStrong Ashland, recognized that long ago. “I was diagnosed with osteoporosis at the age of 40,” Patty said. “At that point, I wasn’t able to take medication for it because I hadn’t gone through menopause yet. My doctor suggested I exercise and lift weights, but it didn’t really help. Then one day Kim told me she had read about a program called OsteoStrong, something that you only have to do once a week for 15 minutes. That seemed too good to be true and immediately raised a red flag, but I decided to look into it.”

There was no OsteoStrong in Brookings where they lived, so they drove to Bend a couple of times to check it out, and Patty was impressed.

“In all honesty, I wanted to prove Kim wrong,” she said. “There’s no way once a week for 15 minutes was going to do anything, but I was totally wrong. I immediately noticed a difference, and the more I read about it, the more sense it made. The machines at OsteoStrong register the pressure a member puts on their bones. When the ‘trigger point’ is reached, the brain sends a signal to the body to create the cells needed to build new bone and replace weaker bone. It takes 5-7 days for the cycle to be completed, then you just repeat every week.”

Not only was Patty’s bone mass increasing, but she had more flexibility, pain relief, better balance, and was able to move more freely. She was totally sold on it, and in 2020, after she and Kim had moved to Ashland, they pooled their retirement 401-Ks and bought an OsteoStrong franchise which they opened in Ashland.

“We thought it would be a perfect fit for Ashland where people are interested in natural, preventative solutions instead of relying on pharmaceutical drugs,” Patty said. “Unfortunately, just as we prepared to open, the Covid pandemic hit and many of the people who had signed up were leery about going anywhere. We’d received approval from the State to stay open because we followed all the protocols, but it wasn’t enough to ease people’s concerns.”

Three years later, the company was still short of its profit point and Patty and Kim were forced to send a message to members announcing that, if they were unable to find an investor, they would need to close their doors on September 30th. They were amazed at the outpouring of love and generosity from the members and several expressed that they wanted to invest. Unfortunately, the investment offers weren’t quite enough.

“I was filling out the paperwork to dissolve our corporation, when a member stopped by to say hello,” Patty said. “I told her the sad news, and she volunteered to give us the money. I didn’t feel good about accepting a donation, so I asked her if she would like to become an investor. She agreed, and OsteoStrong Ashland was saved! The members were thrilled, and we had a big party to celebrate.”

Osteostrong utilizes a series of robotic musculoskeletal treatment devices utilizing high impact emulation so that people can get the benefit of impact without the associated risks.

“The members are guided through the machines by a trained staff member,” Patty said. “Each device provides instant biofeedback measured in pounds and multiples of body weight. Data is recorded and a report is sent to the member detailing their progress at the conclusion of each session. Among the many gains members report are increased bone density and muscle strength, and decreased joint and back pain.”

Anyone wishing to check out OsteoStrong will be given a free, introductory session. For more information, call 541-841-6920 or email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. You can also see them at osteostrong.me.
