When You Are Orbiting Ashland, Land at Luna Cafe
July 2016
Doug and Becky Neuman, owners of Neuman Hotel Group, which includes Ashland Springs Hotel, Larks Restaurants, Waterstone Spa, Lithia Springs Resort, Inn at the Commons, and Ashland Hills Hotel, have opened a third restaurant, Luna Café and Mercantile in the Ashland Hills Hill. Together with their partners Mike and Laura Naumes, their vision of the south end of Ashland as the favorite stop over will bring vitality to the region.
The café is located just off the lobby inside Ashland Hills Hotel & Suites and is a farm-to-counter eatery with great tastes and treats for the whole family. The Oregon-centric Luna Café will offer food cooked from scratch with a focus on farm-fresh and local. A hip throwback to the 70’s, Luna’s specialty is gourmet pizza, burgers, rotisserie chicken and meats, vegetarian options, artisan coffees, house-made pastries, micro brews, cocktails, and the region’s best local wines and cheeses.
In Luna’s traveler-friendly retail space, you will find grab-n-go picnic and road trip provisions, doggie treats, and souvenirs. Take in the best views in town while eating on the deck overlooking the beautiful hills of Ashland, or under the umbrellas on the animal-friendly patio. Enjoy a craft cocktail at the bar or by the fireplace inside at rattan and retro settees and tables. Capture your special moments with a classic photo booth.
Lead designer and owner, Becky Neuman, describes the new restaurant: “The 1970’s was about space exploration, putting a man on the moon, interest in the stars. So the name, LUNA, meaning moon, seemed just right and works well with our Ashland Hills Hotel event spaces Cosmos, Galaxy Lounge and our Constellation Hall ballrooms.”
The opening of Luna Café completes a major part of the second phase of the renovation of Ashland Hills Hotel & Suites. “We are so excited not only for Luna Café and Mercantile to open but also to have a full operating kitchen to support the largest convention and banquet space in Southern Oregon,” Becky said.
For over a year the guests of Ashland Hills Hotel have been eagerly anticipating the opening of the hotel restaurant. “Our hope is to become a favorite stop over, a family resort off I-5,” Becky said. “By staying at the hotel and eating at Luna, guests will get a feel for the essence of Southern Oregon.”
