WI-FI BEAR COMES TO SOUTHERN OREGON

Wifi BearIf you live in an area not served by high-speed wi-fi, or know someone in that predicament, then an Ashland-based company, Wi-Fi Bear, is there to help. Owners Estevan Serrano and Kyle Heppler have devised a way to provide an affordable alternative high-speed Internet service to rural communities.

“We have been building Internet networks since 2015 and there is a serious need in rural areas, especially in Oregon, for an alternative Internet solution,” said Estevan, who has lived in Ashland for four years, moving here from Arizona for the water, the forest and the wonderful people. “Local companies only go out and service as far as they can, and people are tired of satellite Internet speeds. After building our own Internet networks out of necessity, we realized that we were solving a real problem that real Oregonians had, and that this should be offered to others. We both love the outdoors and heading to install networks in the beautiful hills of southern Oregon is a very nurturing job.”

How does the system work?
“Clients can submit their address on our website for a free site survey, where we will give them an idea if we can provide service,” Estevan said. “If so, then they can purchase equipment and service right on our page.

“Many clients opt for self-installation, but if more expertise is needed, we will help them install the unit, usually on their roof. We offer all the equipment you need to get connected whether you’re in town or way out in the hills, and we offer state-of-the-art tech support ‘on the back end’ to eliminate customer headaches. Once the customer has the equipment, it’s easy to take it with you when you move, as our coverage map is nationwide, just like cell phone coverage.”
