WOMEN’S HEALTH AT S.O. GYNECOLOGY

July 2025

Southern Oregon Gynecology Southern Oregon Gynecology (1910 E Barnett, Suite 102, in Medford) was created in 2022 by a team of women’s health providers in “an effort to deliver highly personalized, experienced, and approachable gynecologic care for the women in our community.”

The three providers—Kim Larson, WHCNP, Loretta Sandoval, CNM, NP, and Kendall Cassidy, CNM, NP—have worked together for many years and share a desire to improve women’s experience for the healthcare they access and receive.

“As experienced providers, both in women’s health and in our local community, our practice was born out of a desire to level up the playing field of gynecology,” Loretta said. “Because our practice does not include obstetrics, it allows us to focus and specialize in all aspects of gynecology ranging from routine care to complex gynecologic disorders that deserve highly experienced and accessible care.”

All three women have lived in Ashland and the surrounding area for 20+ years. Kim moved to Ashland in 2002 and raised her two children here and has worked her entire career in the Rogue Valley.

Kendall moved to Ashland in 2001 to attend Southern Oregon University and quickly called the community home. She attended graduate school at OHSU in Portland, then returned to Ashland in 2013.

Loretta grew up in the Talent/Phoenix area and has been part of the medical community in various capacities since her early 20s. She became a nurse practitioner in 2012 and has practiced in the Rogue Valley since that time.

“We want patients to feel cared for and valued at every step, from the moment they call to schedule, to our check-in process, to the experience they have with their provider,” Kim said. “We want our patients to feel heard, validated, and met with expertise in all their women’s health needs. We also strive to approach discomfort and pain in women’s exams and procedures with newfound acknowledgement and management options that have long been absent in the world of women’s health.”

S.O. Gynecology is a woman-owned, woman-run, and woman-centered business that focuses on gynecologic care across the lifespan.

“This can range from routine well-woman care, cancer screening, contraception, hormones, menopause, and genetic cancer screening, to more complex complaints including vulvar conditions, abnormal bleeding, endometriosis and pelvic pain, and many more,” Kendall said. “There are no gynecologic conditions we do not manage and there is no concern too small or embarrassing to discuss with our team.  Our clients can expect compassion and investment from all our staff at every step of the way. Our providers are all highly experienced and trained to manage all the gynecologic needs of women.”

The office offers timely appointments for urgent needs, and they use a team-based approach. “Patients can expect compassion and investment from every member of our team,” Loretta said. “We are here to listen, understand, and provide patient-centered solutions. We are a unique group in that we all have years of specialized gynecologic experience and are able to manage and identify complicated and rare gynecologic conditions, in addition to common complaints.  Our group has training from the North American Menopause Society (NAMS) and is deeply familiar and comfortable with managing hormones across the lifespan.”

They are also highly trained in managing vulvar dermatology and complex vulvar disorders, investing in comprehensive pelvic health and addressing concerns related to pelvic pain, pain with sex, and sexual health. They are all ISSWSH trained (International Society for the Study of Women’s Sexual Health), and they employ a proactive approach to managing pain during pelvic exams and procedures, utilizing many tools to prioritize comfort and ease during exams.
