Action Appliance Service Since 1979
Tom Bange, owner of Action Appliance Service in Grants Pass, feels his roots in the repair business go back a long way.
“I grew up in Quincy, Illinois, and after graduating high school I joined the Navy, where my job was to maintain and do repairs on a rocket launcher,” he said. “But the repair business is in my blood. My grandfather, Frank Bange, had a horseshoeing and implement repair business in Quincy. I’ve always wondered how things work, and I find it fun to fix them when they don’t.”
After the Navy, Tom went to technical school in Quincy and learned to repair appliances. After a brief stint in California he moved to Grants Pass as an appliance repair person for Montgomery Ward. In 1979 he opened Action Appliance Service, while his wife Pat opened her own real estate appraising business.
“We moved to Grants Pass because we love the people, the rivers, the mountains, and the oceans,” Tom said. “We raised our daughter Rae here, who married Michael Nomoral last year.”
Action Appliance Service does repairs on household major appliances in people’s homes within 15 miles of Grants Pass.
“We keep it local, simple, green and affordable,” Tom said. “We only do work for people, landlords and property managers … not for warranty companies. That allows us to only charge $39 for the trip and diagnosis and keep things affordable. We help people make informed decisions about repairs instead of throwing their machines away.”
Customers can expect honest and proud in-home service. “When you call us, you’ll get to talk to a real live person,” Tom said. “Frequently, we’ll schedule a call for the same day or next day. John Callahan is someone who has been working with me for the last seven years, and he is someone the customers like and trust. Having an extra person allows us to make prompt in-home calls.”
In business since 1979, Tom has a long list of referrals, or you can go to Facebook to hear from many happy customers.
