Getting the Right Fit at Wellness Ware

April 2019

Wellness WareWhile the rates of breast cancer have been decreasing since 2000, it’s still estimated that there will be 268,600 new cases in 2019. For women who elect major surgery, dealing with the aftermath can sometimes be difficult, and that is where Wellness Ware and Bra-D-Bra, located at 1547 NE F Street in the Parkway Village, is here to help guide you through the process.

Peggy Medina, owner, who moved to the Rogue Valley in 1986 looking for a better place to raise her children, said that “working with women who have had breast cancer is the heart of my business. We do fittings for bras and prostheses to help them regain shape or find comfort after surgery. We have created a warm environment that helps make the sometimes-difficult experience pleasant instead. Our friendly staff is trained and certified, which ensures that each individual’s needs are met.”

For Peggy, the business opportunity came to her in 2004 at just the right time. “My mother was terminally ill, and I was helping my father take care of her,” she said. “My aunt told me about the business and I thought it would be a good fit for me. While caring for my mom, I was able to start the business slowly.”
Fitting women with breast surgery products is only one part of the business.

“We also fit compression garments for varied health reasons, such as varicose veins, blood clots, venous insufficiency, lymphedema post-cancer treatment, surgery or injury,” Peggy said. “In addition, we provide pregnancy supports and breast pumps for new moms. We also provide wigs for people going through cancer treatment or have hair loss for other medical reasons. You can call for an appointment today to check out our wide selection of wigs—short or long, straight or curly. We have what you’re looking for.” (Editor’s Note: and if you mention the ad in the Sneak Preview, you’ll get a free wig fitting!)

All of the items can be paid through insurance, but Peggy noted that not all companies cover each item.
“The Bra-D-Bra side of the business is a boutique that sells bras for all women,” she said. “We specialize in hard-to-find sizes and helping women find the right fit. We also do wigs for fashion, and we sell purses, sleepwear and gift items.”
