Protecting Your Property with RecTech

March 2024

RectechWell, it was just last week that my daughter and her family had a 30-foot camper/trailer stolen with a lot of valuable camping gear inside. They had parked the vehicle on their rural property outside town, and the thieves drove up in the dead of night, hooked that puppy up to their own rig, and drove off.

Breaking the seventh commandment is nothing new (just ask Moses), and I’m not going to place the blame on anybody, but I sure wish my daughter had contacted Jordan Mortenson, owner of RecTech, LLC, a security system company based in Grants Pass that provides a lot of added protection for your property and valuables.

“I had been a Network Analyst (computer nerd) for various local organizations for about five years here in GP and I loved to help out the community, but the hours were harsh and the pay wasn’t sufficient enough to survive,” Jordan said. “I started my camera installation company in 2016 in order to help people feel safe in their homes and businesses. I love that I can now once again help the community, keep people safe and help catch bad guys. That’s what I really love to do.”

RecTech does surveillance camera installation and do-it-yourself camera kits that have the latest cutting edge, state-of-the-art technology.

“For example, our generation 7 industrial redundant fan-less camera server, which records up to 64 cameras by OnLogic Systems, was used by NASA’s Ames Research Center’s K-Rex Rover,” Jordan said. “We aren’t providing camera systems that you buy at a local store; we are providing the very best and elite hardware and software to serve the community for years to come. We strive to provide the Rolls Royce of camera systems which has far superior features than our competition. Our advanced Artificial Intelligence software is able to detect and notify you real time if there is an invader on your property as well as analyze and store information such as faces, vehicle types, colors and objects to be accessed later for forensic investigation purposes. RecTech has also recently started to provide solar powered camera surveillance trailers which provide the same robust equipment that can protect our parks and neighborhoods, which can be purchased or rented.”

Jordan was born in Southern Oregon and grew up in Fort Jones, California, where his father ran the local newspaper.

“I had run a few small businesses in Fort Jones as a child, one of which was a street cleaning service where I woke up at 5am and cleaned sidewalks for local businesses,” he said. “The second was a BBS (Bulletin Board System), which was a text-based pre-internet chat software with games that you connected to with a dial-up modem. This sparked a huge interest to work with computers and I moved to Ashland and worked at Clear Choice Computers when I was about 19, and then moved up to Beaverton where I worked at Intel and Hewlett Packard.”

Jordan is now making good use of his IT background. “We do NOT use non-secure foreign DVR/NVR’s, which are far from user friendly and could be streaming your video feeds out to unknown sources,” he said. “We use our custom camera servers built here in the U.S. with a surveillance software also created in the U.S. that is not connected to any cloud servers. The AI software that runs on the server is also not cloud-based or subscription-based so it is your own private Artificial Intelligence server. We only have a few completely optional monthly charges for our off-site storage of cameras to our servers here in Grants Pass, as well as server performance monitoring and notifications of any surveillance outages. We retain our footage for as many days, months or years as you desire 24/7 with redundant ‘RAID’ storage systems that prevent your footage from being destroyed by a bad hard drive.”

Jordan loves to catch bad guys. “We will assist in any criminal investigation involving our cameras systems and we’re very excited to work with our local police departments in that venture,” he said.
