Customer Service at A1 Paralegal

LaraDubuqueof A1 Paralegalfirst came to the Rogue Valley in 1979, later earning her Montessori teaching diploma, purchasing a local Montessori school, and building a log schoolhouse and home, where she combined teaching with raising a large family. She is the mother of six biological children and one son who joined the family through foster care, and her children have been active in the Grants Pass area through sports, 4H, FFA, and other community programs. The origins of A1 Paralegal trace back to her own experience navigating the legal system. After an IRS lien was improperly placed on her property due to a spouse’s unpaid taxes, she began researching the law independently at the local law library. Her efforts were successful and ultimately led to the release of the liens and levies. As others learned of her research, they began asking for help with legal research and document preparation—work that eventually grew into the business that exists today and has been refinedover more than 35 years of helping local families put their affairs in order.A1 Paralegal is an independent, family-owned paralegal office providing document preparation services with a primary focus on estate planning, probate, property transfers, and LLC formation. Today, Lara operates the office together with KC and Angie Williams, her beloved son and her lovely daughter-in-law.KC and Angie now carry that same small town, community-minded spirit into the office: they love the quiet country life, working on their farm, and welcoming clients with the kind of personal attention only a local, family run business can provide. They also have very joyful news: the family is over the moon to be welcoming their first little one, due in March. At A1 Paralegal, the documents are not handed to clients in generic form; they are prepared in house, tailored to each client’s expressed wishes and circumstances. Clients explain what they want to accomplish—how they want their assets handled, who they trust with finances and health decisions, and what burdens they hope to spare their loved ones—and A1 Paralegal prepares their documents to reflect those instructions.Over the decades, one theme has been especially clear: most people want to spare their families unnecessary stress. Many hope to avoid probate if possible, and to avoid the need for court-ordered guardianships or conservatorships by putting good planning in place ahead of time. Yet it is common for people to arrive asking only to “update a will,” without realizing that most wills still require probate before assets can be distributed, or how often guardianships and conservatorships are filed when no planning has been done.A1 Paralegal’s work focuses on helping clients understand these realities and make informedchoices. The office prepares documents such as trusts, wills, financial and health care powers of attorney, and advance directives, and also assists with the paperwork involved in probate, guardianships, and conservatorships when those become necessary. The goal is to keep courts out of family decisions whenever good planning will allow, and to give parents and adult children the peace of mind that comes from clear directions and signed, organized papers. “A1 Paralegal gives us a way to add value to our community, serve our neighbors, support our family, and quietly share the gospel of our Savior,”Lara said.At its core, A1 Paralegal is about service, clarity, and care for neighbors. “We help clients navigate unfamiliar and often emotional processes so they can make thoughtful decisions about their finances, health care, and estate planning, without feeling rushed or intimidated,”Lara said. “The office strives to make technical procedures approachable, while ensuring that each document accurately reflects the client’s wishes and supports families in one of the most important areas of life: planning well for those they love.”For more information, the phone number is 541-474-2260.
