At Empowering Hypnotherapy, owner Alaya M.Ketani’s expertise reflects her own healing journey through a myriad of experiences including: childhood trauma, a critical car crash, domestic violence, effects of a natural disaster, a corporate shooting massacre, several family members who experienced cancer, and working with clients for over 30 years.

What can clients expect?
I work very personally and intuitively, customizing all session work according to each client’s need and honoring each individual’s uniqueness and complexity.
I have seen clients in both private practice and as a social worker for agencies for over 30 years. I spent many years in direct service to the most challenged segments of our population including in child abuse, domestic violence, impoverished families and seniors, sick and overwhelmed clientele. I have also worked with numerous athletes and performers to help them overcome anxieties and blocks to reaching their highest potential.
How long you’ve lived in the Rogue Valley, and what brought you here?
I have lived in Oregon for 25 years, in the Rogue Valley since 2002 after several years on the Oregon Coast. I was raised in a small town in Southern California that was a location for world-class surfing championships. Loving the water, I first settled on the coast, however like many others it was after a visit to Ashland I decided to create a life here. I have been involved in many activities here including as a music announcer on JPR, in a play, as a highly active senior level Mediator, and social justice advocate.
What’s your background in this type of business, and what motivated you to follow this career?
Beginning while still a child, people came to me sharing their woes and seeking wisdom. Being so young I knew I had little of value to say; however, as I became a young adult I knew that it was time for me to gain the skills and expertise to offer what I could to help alleviate their suffering and satisfy their need to overcome obstacles to find their niche in life. My study and training has never ceased and this fact, combined with my own insightful life experiences, blend to create potent work with my clients.
I have been Nationally Board Certified in Clinical Hypnosis with additional training, expertise and specialized certifications in the following: Alchemical and Transpersonal Hypnosis, Deep Trance and Waking Hypnosis, Sports and Athletic Hypnosis for the Inner Game, Performance/Public Speaking Hypnosis, Specialized Certifications in Stress and Anxiety Release, Pain Management, Phobia Relief, Medical and Dental Hypnosis, Hypnosis for Birthing, and Hypnofertility Therapy. I have also trained with the most effective hospital based HypnoOncology program using hypnosis for cancer patients. In addition my expertise includes HeartMath Biofeedback, Somatic Experiencing Trauma Release, NeuroLinguistic Programming (NLP), Meta States, Certified Life and Peak Experience Coach, Mindfulness and Meditation Instruction, as well as Energy Healing Mastery.
Describe your business:
I bring far more than extensive training and 30+ years of client experience. I bring the skills and insights gained through my own inspirational life story having overcome serious life circumstances and health challenges. These experiences and skills plus a lifetime of study and practices inform my work with clients bringing undeniable hope and success to all who are committed to their well-being.
I have worked with athletes, performers, public speakers and professionals of all fields to find their true authentic swing on the golf course, the tennis court, athletic field, in professional engagements, sales careers, and more. I approach my Coaching expertise in a Mentoring method, approaching every client as being capable and receptive to discovering his or her unique life journey and peak performance with the assistance of my expertise. I have been a significant partner in the discernment and healing of complex medical challenges, to resolve infertility, pregnancy and birthing difficulties, to release deeply held fears as well as childhood and adult trauma, and more. The manner in which I interweave the many modalities I describe here presents a potent and unique combination rarely found, enabling my clients to see and transform their present state sustainably and in real-time.
What other services or products do you offer your customers?
I see clients who travel from all parts of Oregon, California, and other states in my Ashland office, as well as in clients’ homes, in hospitals, rehabilitation centers, as well as golf courses, tennis courts, lecture halls, spas and retreat centers. I am available for informational talks and classes for schools, organizations, companies, and medical groups. I travel to other destinations with special arrangements. My clients span a wide range of age from children to near ninety.
I offer individual, group, and package rates. I also offer hardship sliding scale rates to those in need due to the gratitude I feel for all the specialists who have been so generous to me during my time of need.

I feel a deep passion, compassion, and meaningful purpose in bringing valuable awareness, inspiration, and empowerment to those who seek relief from suffering, hope to those who may feel they are in hopeless circumstances, and success to those who desire to excel in their life in many capacities.
