G Street Marketplace Opens on Historical G Street

November 2016

G Street MarketplaceSpeaking of holiday shopping, if you’re still bemoaning the loss of Savannah Faire, you’ll be happy to hear that the G Street Marketplace has opened at 137 SW G (on Historic G Street, across from Caveman Plaza). The brainchild of Susie Shirley, the marketplace offers 28 booths filled with hand-crafted and repurposed items to choose from.

“Since we don’t have a mall in this town, I wanted to give local people a place to sell their items in a retail mini-mall in a great location,” Susie said. “I also wanted to create a place where customers can buy different and unique items, either as gifts or something special for themselves.”

Susie spent ten years in retail when she lived in Riverside, California, and also 18 years at the local Bi-Mart. She moved to Grants Pass in 1990 but has always wanted to open her own small business.
“Small business is the heart of America,” she said. “I encourage everyone to support your local, small businesses and shop small, as we give back to the community.”

The location actually contains two businesses. “Up front is Wild about Purses,” Susie said. “We offer a great selection of purses and wallets, from simple to bling designs. In the back of the store is the Marketplace with 28 vendors. It contains a great selection of unique items to choose from, including hand-crafted treasures and accessories … just in time for Christmas.”

Some of the booths include hand-made aprons, ceramic garden and gift items, baby and kids’ clothes, birdhouses, vintage and collectibles, jewelry and necklaces, ceramics and home decor, neck wraps, rainbow suncatchers, goat milk soaps and lotions, kid’s books, a Princess Booth, handmade wooden signs, art, tie-dye booth, seashell and rocks, shabby chic booth, laser art, scented wax warmers and melts, essential oils, and lots more.

The G Street Market-place is open Monday through Saturday 10am to 5:30pm. After Thanksgiving, they will also be open on Sundays from noon to 4pm.
