Relieving Pain at Jeff State Physical Therapy

October 2016

JeffState Physical TherapyHave you developed a hitch in your hip? A crick in your neck? Get your sore, stiff self to Jeff State Physical Therapy, an outpatient physical therapy clinic at 850 Siskiyou Blvd., Suite 6, owned and operated by Jeff Garbi.

Jeff is the sole therapist at Jeff State Physical Therapy, so you are guaranteed one-on-one treatment and care from Jeffrey himself, who has a master’s degree in physical therapy.

“I believe in a holistic approach to treating the body, meaning that for a given problem, I will assess the whole body to help determine what is contributing to the symptoms,” Jeff says.

Jeff State offers treatment of acute and chronic pain conditions as well as musculoskeletal and multi-system problems, including post-operative rehabilitation, balance and vestibular problems, headaches and migraines, and accident-related injuries.

Jeff’s treatment approach uses gentle, hands-on, evidence-based treatment techniques such as Strain-Counterstrain, Muscle Energy Technique, and soft tissue and joint mobilizations. He uses therapeutic exercise as an adjunct to help clients progress and maintain improvements.

“I have extensive training in the Strain-Counterstrain technique,” he says. “I have learned and use many treatment techniques, but this is the most effective and gentle technique I have come across.”
The idea behind counterstrain is simple, Jeff says. “Much of the dysfunction we accumulate in the body can be related to strain of the soft tissues, primarily the fascia, or connective tissue. Counterstrain is an effective way to ‘unstrain’ the strain and allow for return of proper tone and function of the associated soft tissues.”

Jeff opened Jeff State in September after living in Ashland for nearly ten years. He came here for a clinical internship at Asante Hospital, while completing the master’s in physical therapy program at Sacramento State University. He met his wife during the internship, and believes that Ashland was the perfect place for them.

“The Rogue Valley is a great fit for the outdoor lifestyle that we enjoy,” he said. “The small town feel and qualities make for an ideal place to raise a family and develop a career.”

He hopes to develop that career by using his skills to help people live without pain and enjoy their lives more fully.

“I enjoy working with challenging cases, even those that some may consider failed, because I know that there is a good chance that I have something to offer that they likely have not experienced before, and that has a good chance of making a positive difference in their life.”
