RV Metaphysical Library Finds a New Home

RV Metaphysical Library

October 2017

RV Metaphysical LibraryRogue Valley Metaphysical Library and Media Exchange (RVML), located at 2321 Ashland Street in the Tolman Creek Shopping Center (next to Rite-Aid and behind Subway), offers people an opportunity to learn about ideas they may not have encountered elsewhere. Beyond metaphysical, paranormal and spiritual subjects, RVML’s scope extends to subjects that are practical and relevant to the challenges we face today, topics that include science, technology, psychology, personal development, parenting, business skills, health and healing, consciousness, history, and more.

The Library now occupies a new, spacious location, and it has grown tremendously since its beginnings nearly 16 years ago in the back of an art gallery on A Street.

“Our basic mission is to provide easy access to information that inspires, heals and transforms,” says manager Chris Stewart.

In addition to books and other media provided through its library services, RVML organizes events and operates a media exchange. “Our operations are straightforward and informal,” says Chris. “People bring donations and take items of equal or lesser value on the honor system. There are all kinds of subjects here, not just spirituality and metaphysics. Most donations go directly onto the shelves; some are donated to other places or sold online to pay the bills. All donations are tax deductible.”

The library has some 12,000 items in its collection, with several thousand more books and other items in process, Chris says. “It’s easy to search everything using our computerized library search tool at rvml.org.” Or people can visit the RVML in person, Tuesday through Saturday, 10am to 6pm.

Chris says the library has something for everyone, regardless of belief. “We’re about satisfying curiosities, without particular bias, and with a sensitivity that’s necessary with these topics,” she said. “We honor everyone’s beliefs, and want our patrons to discover new ideas on their own.”

RVML Director Jordan Pease says events have become a significant part of the organization’s work. “People can follow us on Facebook or join the email list to keep informed about upcoming events,” he says. He points to the RVML’s hosting of the annual conference “Architects of the New Paradigm.”

“This was our third year of holding the event in which leading visionaries present on finding solutions to society’s critical challenges in the social, financial and technological arenas,” Jordan said. He attributes the RVML’s growth to those who have supported the organization from its beginnings, as well as those who are new to it.

“We’re very grateful to all the donors and volunteers who are making this happen,” he said.
