New Owners at Deluxe Awning in Ashland

February 2020

Countryside Village RetirementTake a drive down E. Main in downtown Ashland, and you’ll see a plethora of sturdy, nice-looking awnings adorning many of the storefronts. Quite a few of them were designed and installed by Deluxe Awning, located at 260 4th Street, and the company, which recently changed owners, also specializes in an array of residential services for outdoor living spaces.

The company was founded in 1982 by Bill Welch and his wife Darlene Beckett. After 37 years of turning it into a successful business, they sold last year to Kyle and Keli Robinson, who are intent on keeping the good times rolling.

Kyle was an employee of Deluxe Awning for 14 years, giving him a diverse understanding of what is involved in the industry. He was born and raised on the Oregon Coast and was drawn to the Rogue Valley in 2004.

“I had an opportunity to work with my brother, who had just purchased Noah’s River Adventures,” Kyle said. “It was working at Noah’s that gave me the chance to see just how much this area has to offer for the outdoor enthusiast.”

His wife and co-owner, Keli, was born and raised in the Rogue Valley. “Together with our two daughters, we are excited about this new venture in our lives,” she said. “With my experience in the insurance and medical fields, it benefits our customers and employees and smooths our operations.”
Deluxe Awning Company offers a full line of retractable awnings, retractable solar screens, fixed solar screens, custom fixed awnings covered with either canvas or metal, durable long-lasting umbrellas, and custom hand-painted awning signage.

“Aside from awnings we also make tote bags in a variety of styles using the remnant fabric from our awning jobs,” Kyle said. “You can purchase these bags in front of our shop on 4th Street.”

The dedicated team at Deluxe Awning includes Chuck Porter, who joined Deluxe in 1998; Kathy Hostetter, with some amazing stitching and patterning skills; Dylan Wandler, who brings a multitude of skills with quality fabrication and installation; Ka-sey Rolih, who quickly mastered the art of the unique tote bags; and Teryn Gosse, who came to Deluxe in the summer of 2019 and was an immediate fit, bringing previous experience with awning work and a diverse set of skills.

“At Deluxe Awning Company we place our customers first, no matter how large or small your project is,” Keli said. “For 38 years, the company has worked with customers to enhance the appearance of their homes or commercial buildings, helping to create new outdoor living spaces, reduce solar gain, and increase energy efficiency. Starting with a free consultation, we can help turn your vision into reality.”
