New Owners at Pangea Are Dedicated to Delicious, Nourishing Food

August 2018

Pangea“The way we make our food is just as important as the ingredients that go into it,” says Zoe Lehmann, who with her husband, Ryan, are the new owners of Pangea at 272 East Main Street. “We treat food with reverence, practice joyfulness, respect each other, value our customers, and have fun together. Our food is delicious because it nourishes your spirit and body.”

Ryan and Zoe have been nourishing customers with delicious ice creams and gelato at Zoey’s Cafe and All Natural Ice Cream, just down the street from Pangea, since 2005. They took ownership of the 20-year-old Pangea this past April.

“We see Pangea as a kindred business, focused on a premium gourmet product in a casual atmosphere at a price everyone can afford,” says Ryan. “We are excited to carry on the tradition of this local, organic eatery, with lots of vegan and gluten-free options. We are proud to offer sustainable meats and the best organic produce available.”

Pangea’s menu offers something for everyone, from vegans to omnivores. Everything is made from scratch, seasoned with spices from around the world, and chock-full of locally grown, organic ingredients. Choices range from delicious grilled panini to wraps and salads. Soups are a rotating selection, including such favorites as coconut curried yam, Burmese Dahl, golden turmeric, and borscht. Scrumptious desserts vary daily and include items such as lavender pound cake and coconut curry rice pudding, as well as traditional chocolate chip cookies and white chocolate chunk brownies.

Zoe and Ryan have lived in Ashland for 16 years. Ryan hails from the Texas hill country, while Zoe is from Australia. Both were drawn to this region for its beauty, healthy lifestyle and the availability of fresh, organic foods.

“Our staples are almost exclusively organic,” Zoe said. “Our organic produce fluctuates with seasonal and local availability. We source locally as much as possible and serve only ethically raised meats from trusted suppliers like Coleman and Full Circle Bison.”

Pangea offers a charming, cozy dining space, with a few tables out front for outdoor seating. The walls feature rotating works by local artists, for enjoyment and for sale.

“We invite everyone to come and see what has made Pangea such a success for the past 20 years,” says Ryan. “We’ve enjoyed making improvements and embracing the staff, all of whom have stayed with us through the transition.”
