Patina Soul: Fashion That Bridges the Generation Gap
There aren’t many women’s clothing stores that have something for everyone, however Patina Soul, at 342 Lithia Way, is that special place. From young teens to hip, young-at-heart seniors, every generation can find the perfect thing to wear.
“We have multi-generational styles, which is fun because grandmothers, mothers and daughters can each find a favorite new piece,” says owner Catherine Wallner. “We carry some great brands like Lucky, Kut from The Kloth, Lucy Love, Elan, O’Neill and Dear John. For our younger customers, we carry Billabong, Roxy and Vintage Havana.
I’m always shopping for new brands that aren’t found in Southern Oregon, so we have fresh and different pieces spicing up our shelves.”
Catherine opened Patina Soul in 2009 because she wanted to offer an affordable place for locals to shop. “I’m grateful to all of our ‘regulars’ and out of town customers for shopping with us for the past nine years,” she said.
Catherine and her family moved to Ashland in 2004. She had owned a clothing store in Poulsbo, Washington, but after looking “all over the West Coast” to relocate, they “fell in love with Ashland.” She decided to rejoin the retail scene because she saw a clear need in Ashland for an affordable fashion-forward boutique.
She credits her staff for much of the store’s success. They reflect the diverse ages and tastes of her customers.
“Taylor Alexander came aboard about five years ago as manager,” Catherine said. “The rest of the staff range in age from 18 through 72, and are all great at helping our customers put together the perfect outfits.”
In addition to all of the one-of-a-kind clothing styles, Patina Soul also offers basics like Nikibiki camis and leggings, a wide selection of Coobie bras, lacy bralettes and panties, and intimates made from organic bamboo.
You can also find the perfect accessories to top off your style choices. “We have a great selection of jewelry, featuring local artists,” says Catherine.
With cooler fall weather just around the corner, there are cozy jackets, scarves and hats arriving daily. “We are also adding home decor items like faux fur throws and soy-based candles,” Catherine said. This fall, she has introduced a new line, Lemon, that makes ultra-soft robes and lounge-wear, and is great for gifts.
Patina Soul is open 7 days a week, with free parking right out front. Stop by and up your fashion game.
