For Biscuits & Vinyl owners Matthew Farrington and Kathryn Rosquette, opening a store in downtown Talent was about being able to work for themselves while sharing their passions with the community.
“We knew we wanted to work for ourselves, we just didn’t know exactly how that would look,” Matt said.
Matt went to school in Ashland 20 years ago, and after his career in transportation planning in Santa Barbara, and Kathryn’s 25-year career in human resources, the couple knew it was time for a change. “The beach was getting expensive and crowded,” Matt said. “Two years ago we had the opportunity and decided to take the leap and pursue our dream of a simpler life closer to all of the outdoor activities we love here in Southern Oregon.
“When we first visited the area we kept trying all these amazing biscuits at local restaurants and joked about opening a record store called Biscuits & Vinyl,” Matt continued.
While neither has experience in retail, they’re both music lovers, and Matt is a musician and has been collecting vinyl since high school. “We always dreamed of opening a record store,” Kathryn said. “The dream became a reality when we found our little spot in downtown Talent. Sadly, it has no kitchen so the fresh biscuits are on hold for now but the name stuck. Stay tuned! Who knows what the future holds!”
They buy and sell all genres of new and used vinyl records, specializing in rare and vintage vinyl. And have a nice selection of new turntables as well as vintage audio gear.
“We like to keep our inventory fresh and are always on the lookout to buy records,” Matt said. “We’ll consider any size collection. “While we don’t have fresh baked biscuits,” Matt continued. “We DO have a nicely organized selection of carefully curated records at fair prices.”
