Wagner Plaza Restores Hope
February 2021
The corner of Main St and Talent Ave, Wagner Plaza, has been the center of Downtown Talent for years. However, when the Almeda fire happened, it shifted into a place of refuge and solace for many. Jack Latvala and Rick Harris of Star Properties, LLC are truly the heroes behind making this little corner a haven for the community. Immediately after the fire, they offered to house Rogue Action Center, Rogue Climate and The Mutual Aid Station, opening the door to the recovery process. It’s impossible to measure the amount of help this space has provided. For months after the fire, hundreds of people came through daily for much needed food and supplies. The existing businesses, The Grotto and Talent Maker City also became heavily involved and continue working daily to provide relief.
Now, as our community begins the process of rebuilding, we are excited to announce that Wagner Plaza has transitioned to being fully open for business! It is the new home for three businesses that were lost in the fire and is even welcoming a new one to town!

“Talent Maker City’s mission is to build a more connected, more prosperous community through hands-on creativity and STEAM-based learning.
Even though “Disaster Relief’ isn’t in our mission, we worked in partnership with Rogue Climate and Rogue Action Center after the Almeda Fire to provide supplies to our community.
Currently, we’re partnering up with Girls Build making bed frames for those who lost them in the fire - and we’re making them with students - many of whom lost their own homes.
So far, we have delivered 35 beds all over Southern Oregon. AND we are so grateful to be a part of this community and a part of Wagner Plaza.”
